The Ministry of Commerce invites applications from qualified and motivated professionals to join its research team, dedicated to enhancing Pakistan’s trade and economic performance as well as assisting the management related legal matters. As part of our mission to develop evidence-based policies and strategies, we are offering hiring for the position of “Trade Expert (Category-II)” at Islamabad.
Details are as follows:

Position Title: Trade Expert (Category-II)

Domicile Quota: Open Merit
Salary: 4 lac with 10% increment up to 5.5 lac

Qualification & Experience::

Masters or equivalent (16 years of education) in Economics, Public Policy, International Trade, International Development or any relevant social sciences discipline.
Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience.
Proven track record of research publications related to international trade in reputable peer-reviewed academic journals, books or book chapters and/or conference proceedings.

Required Skills:

Proficiency in handing data using Advanced Excel, Stata or Python/R, etc.
Strong writing and analytical skills.
Experience with using international trade-related data sources and firm/product level datasets.
Experience in econometric modeling, impact evaluation methods and/or predictive analytics.
Experience in writing reports and presenting data and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Job Description:

Conduct analysis and develop reports on international trade and recommend improving strategies.
Carry out research studies, impact evaluations of trade policies, forecasting international trade and revenue collection.
Supervise data collection, cleaning, consolidation, and analysis while providing guidance to junior resources on the team.
Produce Domestic and External Market analysis papers on regular basis for key commodities traded by Pakistan.
Prepare reports/scoping studies on potential FTAs, PTAs and other trade agreements.
Conduct Impact evaluation studies of different trade policy, including tariffs, export facilitation schemes etc.
Perform any other tasks and duties assigned by Commerce Division.

Successful candidates will be offered market competitive salaries and the appointment will be made on a contract basis, initially for a period of one (1) year further extendable based on performance.
