Lahore High Court, Examination Wing invites applications on “Prescribed Form from desiring persons domiciled in Punjab, having requisite qualifications as prescribed in the Punjab Judicial Service Rules, 1994 for appointment against some vacant temporary but likely to become permanent posts of Additional District & Sessions Judge BS-20 with all fringe benefits.
Details are as follows:
Position Title: Additional District & Sessions Judge
Pay Scale: BS-20
Eligibility:
- He/ She shall have a degree in Law from a recognized University entitling him to practice the profession of law or is a member of the Faculty of Advocates of Scotland;
- A practicing Advocate of High Court and Courts subordinate to the High Court. with minimum practice of ten years, which shall be counted from the date when he became registered member of any Bar Association as per Rules 7.10 & 7.18 of the Punjab Legal Practitioners and Bar Councils Rules, 2023 with fulfilling the criteria laid down under Rule-7 of Punjab Judicial Service Rules, 1994; and
- Not less than thirty-five years and not more than forty-five years of age as on (18.07.2025).
Quota:
- 3% quota shall be reserved for differently able persons as laid down in The Punjab Disabled Persons (Employment and Rehabilitation Ordinance, 1981 as amended through Ordinance, 2015 (X of 2015).
- 5% quota shall be reserved for Minorities in the light of Government of the Punjab Notification No. SOR-Ill (S & GAD) 1-35/93, dated 27.03.2010.
Conditions:
- There shall be a written examination of law and other subjects as laid down in this Court’ press release dated 22.04.2025. Candidates are required to secure 40 % marks in each paper and 45% in aggregate to be eligible for a psychological and aptitude test before an interview/viva voce of 300 marks with minimum 50% passing marks (150/300) to be declared successful.
Note:
- The candidates shall apply online through prescribed form to be filled in by the candidates.
- Prescribed form, syllabus for written examination and important instructions are available on the official website of this Court www.lhc.gov.pk/jobs. Candidates are required to download and read such important instructions, and those mentioned in the “Prescribed Form” before filling it online, to be followed in letter and spirit.
- A non-refundable examination fee of Rs. 6,000/- shall be deposited by the candidates in any branch of MCB bank with Gold Saving Account No. 0785503341001134 titled ‘Human Resource-District Judiciary (Fee submitted through online mobile banking or any other online medium will not be accepted).
- The hard copy of online application form, fee deposit slip in original and relevant documents as mentioned in important instructions must be dispatched through courier service to the Registrar of this court with attention to “Examination Wing of Lahore High Court, Lahore” on or before (18.07.2025). No hard copy of online. application shall be accepted thereafter.
- Last date for submission of applications is (18.07.2025): date of written. examination shall be intimated later.
- The answer books of the examination shall be disposed of after three months from the date of appointment of successful candidates. No representation/application of any kind relating to the answer books shall be entertained thereafter.
Important Instructions for The Post of Additional District & Sessions Judge
- The candidates shall meet eligibility criteria provided under Rule-7(1)(b)(i)(i) read with Rule- 7(1)(a)(i) of the Punjab Judicial Service Rules 1994 and explanation thereto.
- Attachment of enrollment & membership certificates of District Bar Association and Lahore High Court Bar Association is compulsory under rule 7(1)(b) of the Punjab Judicial Service Rules, 1994.
- Experience shall be counted from the date of membership of a Bar Association in terms of the Punjab Legal Practitioners and Bar Council Rules, 2023 and Legal Practitioners and Bar Council Act, 1973.
- District Attorneys, Deputy District Attorneys, Assistant District Attorneys, full time prosecutors authorized to conduct prosecution on behalf of the government shall apply through proper channel.
- The date sheet and place of examination will be intimated to the eligible candidates through call letters, and also through SMS or e-mail or press.
- In case of concealment of facts, false information or mis-statement made by a candidate in any document, the Lahore High Court reserves right to cancel the candidature at any stage, even after appointment. Such concealment/mis-statement shall lead to proceedings against the said candidate under the Punjab Legal Practitioners and Bar Councils Act, 1973, or criminal prosecution under the Pakistan Penal Code, 1860 and shall forfeit his/her right to appear in this or subsequent examination(s) or to remain in service.
- Candidates are advised to ensure that they fulfill all the requirements under relevant rules and selection criteria, before applying, in order to avoid any frustration.
- The attested copies of the following documents must be attached to the hard copy of the application form:
- All educational certificates/degrees.
- Domicile Certificate.
- Computerized National Identity Card.
- Enrolment certificates as an advocate of courts subordinate to the High Court and an advocate of High Court issued by the Punjab Bar Council.
- Membership certificate issued by the President District/Tehsil Bar Association, with date of membership.
- Membership certificate issued by the President, High Court Bar Association. Prescribed Experience Certificate as a practising advocate of the High Court and its subordinate courts having ten years practice duly signed by the concerned President, District Bar Association, specifying the date when the candidate registered as member of the Bar Association and duly countersigned by the concerned District and Sessions Judge.
- Prescribed Character Certificate from the President District/Tehsil Bar Association duly countersigned by the concerned District & Sessions Judge.
- Appointment letter and experience certificate in case of District Attorneys, Deputy District Attorneys, Assistant District Attorneys and full-time prosecutors showing their active practice.
- Five latest passport size attested photographs (one from the front and four from the back side) by a government officer of BS-17 or above who should give his/her full name, designation, affix his/her official stamp and signatures. The said photographs shall be submitted in a small sized envelope.
- Background: Light blue, white or off white;
- Candidates need to be looking directly to the camera; The tilted face/pose is not allowed;
- The features of face need to be clearly visible for identification purpose; Female candidates should also upload photos without covering face for the identification and security purpose;
- Differently abled person should provide a Disability Certificate issued by the Competent Disability Board showing suitability/fitness of the applicant for the subject post as provided under section 12 of the Disabled Persons (Employment and Rehabilitation) Ordinance, 1981.
- Incomplete applications will be rejected summarily. No deficiency shall be permitted to be made up after the last date for submission of online application forms.
- No age/experience relaxation shall be granted under the rules.
- Applications without original bank deposit receipt shall be rejected summarily. Fee deposited by the applicant shall not be refunded under any circumstances.
- The applicants shall be governed by the rules, regulations, policy and decisions made by the Lahore High Court, Lahore from time to time.
- The candidates can submit requests for recounting of their paper within 15 days after the declaration of written examination result on payment of Rs. 2500/- per paper with MCB Bank Ltd.
- Manual addition or cutting in the hardcopy of online application form is not allowed. In case, any candidate makes such cutting or uses fluid/blanco etc. his/her application would be rejected.
- Differently-abled candidates requiring the assistance of an amanuensis in the written examination are required to submit a written request to that effect, accompanied by Disability Certificate, at the time of submission of their application form (hardcopy).
