Ministry of Interior is looking for the services of qualified and self-motivated professional for the position of “Legal Officer” at Islamabad.
Details are as follows:
Position Title: Legal Officer

Employment Status: Contract
Age: Maximum 62 years as of deadline for application submission.
Location: Islamabad
Qualification & Experience:
- Ph.D or Master Degree in Law (L.L.M. in International or Corporate Law) having experience of legal drafting in public sector or as Consultant in public sector.
- Preference shall be given to candidates having experience in vetting and drafting of legal instruments / International Treaties, Conventions, Agreements, MoUs / Contracts, writ petitions, suits and opinion writing for International Cooperation, Mutual Legal Assistance, Extradition cases, particularly relating to organized trans-boundary crimes, Criminal Law and International Law including Human Rights, immigration and refugees laws..
Job Descriptions / Job Responsibilities:
- To advise Interior on all legal and constitutional questions arising out of any case and on the interpretation of any law.
- To draft scrutiny and examination of Bills, Ordinances, and all legal and other instruments.
- To draft the Extradition Treaties; Agreements on Transfer of Offenders; Agreements on Mutual Legal Assistant in Criminal Matters.
- To vet para-wise comments on writ petitions / civil petition for the Supreme Court of Pakistan / Provincial High Courts and other Courts / F.S.T and Wafaqi Mohtasib and other related matters falling within the purview of Ministry of Interior.
- Legal proceedings and litigation concerning the Ministry of Interior.
- The review human rights situation in the country.
- Coordination of activities of Ministries, Division and Provincial Governments in respect of human rights violations, from Ministries, Divisions, Provincial Governments in respect of human rights / legal matters.
- To obtain information, documents and reports on complaints and allegations of human rights violations, from Ministries, Division and any other institution where legal aspects are discussed.
- To represent Interior in Foreign Affairs, Law & Justice Division and any other institution where legal aspects are discussed.
- Any other work assigned by Secretary of the Ministry.
- To assist A.G, DAG, A.G, matters pending in various courts on behalf of Ministry of Interior.
Tenure of contract:
- The appointment in MP-II Scales shall initially be for period of (03) years further extendable for a maximum period of (02) two years on annual (yearly) basis subject to satisfactory performance
Appointing Authority:
- Prime Minister on the recommendations of the Selection Committee. Annul extension in contract will also be given by Prime Minister on the recommendations of Performance Evaluation Committee.
Conflict of interest:
- The persons being employed under MP Scale shall submit an affidavit declaring their non-involvement in any other relevant business/job which may tantamount to conflict of interest.
Pay package:
- As determined by Finance Division from time to time, with the approval of Prime Minister.
