Job Summary:
The Field Monitoring Officer (FMO) will play a crucial role in the ILMpact Project, ensuring that the intervention effectively improves learning outcomes and educational access for out-ofschool children (OOSC), particularly marginalized groups. The FMO will be responsible for conducting field visits, collecting and analyzing data, ensuring compliance with project monitoring frameworks, and coordinating with stakeholders and help in designing data collection tools to ensure smooth implementation of interventions at selected district levels. The SDPI Head Office will oversee the work of selected FMOs to ensure data integrity, timely reporting, and informed decision-making. The role requires a high degree of field engagement, stakeholder coordination, and expertise in monitoring and evaluation (M&E).
The FMOs will be reporting to Provincial Coordinators.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in education, Social Sciences, Statistics, Computer Science or in any related field.
- 2–3 years of relevant experience in field monitoring, education programs, or community-based interventions.
- Experience in using digital tools for data collection.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to identify gaps, trends, and areas for improvement in program implementation.
- Familiarity with education indicators and learning assessment methodologies.
- Prior knowledge of the government education system will highly appreciable.
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of data collection tools and performance monitoring.
- Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative data collection methodologies.
Behavioral and Soft Skills:
- Ability to work independently in field with minimal supervision.
- Strong networking, interpersonal and communication skills to engage with teachers, school administrators, and local stakeholders.
- Problem-solving and adaptability skills to handle on-ground challenges and propose solutions.
- Attention to detail to ensure data accuracy and adherence to monitoring protocols.
- Commitment to safeguarding policies and ensuring ethical fieldwork practices.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned district and work in diverse, sometimes challenging environments.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular field visits to schools and learning centers to monitor program implementation.
- Use structured monitoring forms and tools, including randomized student testing, to assess learning outcomes, attendance, and teacher performance.
- Collect quantitative and qualitative data on key indicators such as enrollment, attendance, parental engagement, and teaching quality.
- Ensure data accuracy and completeness, identifying gaps and inconsistencies.
- Observe classroom instruction quality and provide feedback on potential areas for improvement.
- Compile collected monitoring data and ensure timely entry into the project database.
- Submit weekly and monthly reports to the SDPI Head Office summarizing findings, trends, and recommendations.
- Identify early warning signs of implementation challenges and propose data-driven recommendations for program improvements.
- Ensure all monitoring data is stored securely, maintaining confidentiality and ethical handling of participant information.
- Engage teachers, school administrators, and local community members to ensure smooth monitoring and data collection.
- Ensure adherence to program guidelines, policies, and safeguarding protocols in all field activities.
- Facilitate training sessions or capacity-building activities for teachers and local partners on monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
- Participate in district-level coordination meetings, sharing insights on project progress and data-driven findings.
- Flag potential risks or implementation challenges to senior management, providing real-time feedback from the field.
