Qualification and Experience:
- Minimum 16 years of education in the field of Environmental Science / Engineering / Management, Civil / Urban Planning or Business Administration from an HEC recognized university. Foreign Qualification thoroughly recognized by HEC will be preferred.
- At least Ten (10) years of experience, out of which five (05) years of Operations, Management, Monitoring & Evaluation on Senior position and three (03) years on Same position in well-established and renowned public / private organizations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee the monitoring of waste collection, transportation, recycling, and disposal activities to ensure they meet the organization’s goals, regulatory standards, and best practices.
- Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of current waste management processes and systems, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure that all waste management activities comply with local, regional, and national environmental regulations, including waste segregation, recycling, treatment, and disposal standards.
- Establish and maintain a comprehensive monitoring framework to track the performance of waste management operations. This includes creating Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for various functions such as waste reduction, recycling rates, and disposal efficiency.
- Conduct periodic reviews of waste management projects and operational activities to evaluate their effectiveness in achieving targets. Provide detailed reports to senior management and stakeholders.
- Collect and analyze operational data, including waste volumes, recycling rates, transportation logistics, and disposal practices, to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas requiring intervention.
- Monitor and evaluate the environmental impact of waste management practices, particularly focusing on waste diversion from landfills, emissions, and the conservation of resources.
- Carry out audits and inspections of waste management practices to ensure compliance with environmental laws and standards, and to assess the effectiveness of waste reduction programs.
- Manage relationships with third-party contractors, waste processing facilities, and recycling centers to ensure the efficient handling and processing of waste.
- Liaise with other departments (e.g., Operations, Finance, Environmental, and Compliance) to ensure seamless integration of waste management processes and to address any issues promptly.
- Proactively identify opportunities for improving waste management practices, including reducing costs, increasing recycling rates, enhancing resource recovery, and optimizing waste-to-energy processes.
- Drive sustainability initiatives by recommending new waste reduction programs, increased recycling efforts, or the adoption of circular economy principles.
- Lead, supervise, and mentor the monitoring team responsible for collecting data, conducting inspections, and generating reports. Ensure that the team is well-trained, efficient, and motivated.
- Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and assess the performance of the monitoring team to ensure high standards of work are maintained.
- Ensure the proper allocation of resources for monitoring activities, including human resources, data collection tools, and monitoring equipment.
- Prepare detailed reports on monitoring activities, operational performance, environmental impacts, and compliance status. Present these reports to senior management, governmental agencies, and other key stakeholders.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of monitoring activities, audits, and inspections, maintaining compliance with internal audit requirements and regulatory bodies.
- Support public awareness campaigns around waste management practices, recycling, and waste reduction to encourage community involvement and support for waste management initiatives.
- Ensure transparency in waste management practices by providing the public and stakeholders with regular updates on performance, outcomes, and any new initiatives or changes.
- Stay abreast of technological advancements in waste management and monitoring and recommend their implementation to improve data accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Explore opportunities for automating monitoring and reporting processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of data.
- Any other task assigned by senior management.
