Location: Islamabad
Job Overview:
The Structure & Design Expert will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of construction quality, structural integrity, and compliance with telecom infrastructure standards across newly built and existing sites. The role will focus on quality audits, structural assessments, tower health evaluations and civil work maintenance.
The ideal candidate should be a Civil Engineer with 5+ years of experience in telecom infrastructure quality control, structural analysis, and civil works maintenance. The role requires expertise in tower health assessment, Effective Projected Area (EPA) calculations, strengthening designs, and quality audits for both new rollouts and existing site upgrades.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Candidates with added Certifications (Six Sigma Green Belt/ ISO 14001 Lead Auditor/ ISO 9001 Lead Auditor/ NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety) shall be preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in telecom infrastructure quality control, structural assessments, or civil works management.
- Experience in tower health monitoring, load calculations, and strengthening design implementations.
- Strong knowledge of telecom tower structures, foundation designs, and wind load assessments.
- Experience with quality audits, regulatory compliance, and telecom site inspections.
Skills & Competencies:
- Expertise in structural analysis and tower health assessments.
- Strong understanding of EPA calculations, wind load impact, and strengthening techniques.
- Proficiency in civil works quality control, material selection, and construction best practices.
- Ability to identify and resolve quality deviations in tower and civil work projects.
- Familiarity with telecom industry standards (TIA-222, IEC, local regulatory codes).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Technical report writing skills with the ability to present findings to management.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SAP2000, MS Office, and quality control tools.
Job Responsibilities:
- Quality Assurance & Control for New Site Construction:
- Ensure that all newly built sites meet design specifications, structural integrity requirements, and quality standards.
- Conduct on-site inspections and audits during critical phases such as foundation works, concrete pouring, tower erection, and finishing.
- Verify that materials, workmanship, and construction techniques adhere to industry best practices and regulatory standards.
- Identify deviations, non-compliance issues, and corrective actions required to maintain site quality.
- Structural Assessments & Tower Health Monitoring:
- Perform structural health assessments of towers, including visual inspections, stress tests, and load-bearing calculations.
- Calculate Effective Projected Area (EPA) and assess wind load impact, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Develop and evaluate strengthening designs for aging or overloaded towers to enhance structural stability.
- Conduct regular audits to assess corrosion levels, joint integrity, and overall tower condition.
Civil Works Maintenance & Site Rectifications
- Oversee civil work maintenance at existing sites, including boundary walls, flooring, grounding pits, OB lights, equipment shelters, and access roads.
- Ensure timely repair and maintenance of tower structures to prevent site failures or safety hazards.
- Work closely with the Operations and Rollout teams to prioritize site rectification projects based on criticality.
- Develop preventive maintenance strategies to enhance the longevity of telecom sites.
- Quality Audits & Compliance:
- Conduct independent quality audits of telecom sites and prepare detailed reports with recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with local and international telecom infrastructure regulations.
- Verify that civil and structural designs conform to industry standards, including TIA-222, IEC, and local building codes.
- Work closely with vendors and contractors to enforce quality control measures throughout the project lifecycle.
- Stakeholder Coordination & Reporting:
- Provide technical guidance to regional rollout teams on quality-related issues.
- Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and electrical vendors to ensure best practices are followed.
- Collaborate with engineering and design teams to improve site construction standards.
- Prepare and present quality audit reports, structural health assessments, and compliance findings to senior management.
