Location: Lahore
Duration: Six (6) Months (September 2025 – February 2026 tentative)

Background:

Improvement of Labour and Environmental Standards in Pakistan’s Textile Industry II (TextILES II)

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a leading global service provider specializing in international cooperation for sustainable development and operates under the ownership of the German Government. The GIZ project, titled “Improvement of Labour and Environmental Standards in Pakistan’s Textile Industry II” (TextILES II), aims to enhance the textile and fashion industry’s capabilities in adopting circular economic strategies through product and process innovations. This not only ensures the continued provision of quality jobs for the community but also paves the way for a sustainable future. Furthermore, TextILES II actively collaborates with the public sector, implementing a range of measures to foster a favorable legislative environment, aligning particularly with the objectives of the European “Green Deal.”

Qualification & Experience:

  • The interested candidate should have completed or in the process of completing bachelor’s or master’s degree in relevant field
  • Either no comparable experience in the related field or not more than 11 months of internship / job experience after graduation
  • Excellent working knowledge of ICT and computer applications (e.g. MS Office, MS Teams, etc.)

Learning Areas:

  • Introduction to GIZ-Pakistan and TextILES-II project and more specifically output-1, RA-2, focusing on activities relating project interventions with Ministry of Commerce,
  • Understanding the working of project’s direct counterpart; Ministry of Commerce, Labour and Human Resource Department and its downstream institutions (CIWCE, IRI, PESSI, DGLW, PWWF) and other relevant stakeholders i.e. Employer’s Federation of Pakistan and other associations.
  • Understand the Literature review on: Project document, EU Strategy on circular and sustainable textiles, OSH, OSH Awards and other integrated interventions with WE project.
  • Familiarization with following routine activities:
  • Emails and telephonic conversation and coordination with counterparts/partners and consultants with regards to ongoing activities and planned events / sessions / trainings/ workshops
  • Organizing and managing meetings / events / sessions / trainings/ workshops
  • Writing minutes of meetings
  • Preparing project presentations/ agenda presentations/ specific assignment presentations and reports etc.
  • Management of local and international consultants 
  • Collection of data as per M&E requirements
  • Onsite operations and its working 
  • Reviewing jointly the status of personal professional objectives and plan of action.
  • Finalizing internship report and its submission.
