Job Description:
The School Psychologist is responsible for assessing, supporting, and enhancing the emotional, behavioral, and learning development of students. This role involves working collaboratively with educators, families, and multidisciplinary professionals to promote students’ psychological well-being and academic success in a safe, inclusive, and nurturing school environment.
Qualification:
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Psychology, School Psychology, Educational Psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Valid licensure or registration as a Psychologist or School Psychologist (as per national/local regulatory requirements).
- Certification in child or adolescent mental health or behavior support preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience working with children and adolescents in school, clinical, or counseling settings.
- Experience in administering standardized psychological assessments and implementing school-based interventions preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of child and adolescent development, psychopathology, and learning differences.
- Proficiency in psychological assessment tools and techniques.
- Excellent counseling, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- High level of professionalism, ethics, and cultural sensitivity.
Working Conditions:
- School-based environment, requiring regular interaction with students, teachers, and families.
- May involve working with students facing significant emotional or behavioral challenges.
- Occasional extended hours for meetings, crisis response, or parent workshops.

Job Responsibilities:
Assessment and Evaluation
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments to identify students’ cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and learning needs.
- Utilize standardized tools, observational methods, and interviews with stakeholders to inform intervention planning.
- Prepare detailed reports that guide educational decision-making and support strategies.
Intervention and Support
- Develop and implement individualized intervention plans tailored to students’ psychological and educational needs.
- Provide individual and group counseling to address issues such as anxiety, self-esteem, emotional regulation, and social skills.
- Support students in developing resilience, problem-solving abilities, and positive coping strategies.
Behavioral Support
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to design and implement positive behavioral intervention strategies.
- Assist in the development of behavior support plans and classroom management techniques.
- Monitor the effectiveness of interventions and make data-informed adjustments as needed.
Collaboration and Consultation
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, including IEP (Individualized Education Program) and student support team discussions.
- Contribute psychological insights to inform goal-setting, accommodations, and instructional strategies.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, special educators, and other specialists to ensure holistic student care.
Staff Development and Capacity Building
- Provide training and consultation to teachers and support staff on topics such as mental health awareness, child development, trauma-informed care, and inclusive practices.
- Promote an understanding of psychological principles in classroom teaching and student interactions.
Record Keeping and Compliance
- Maintain confidential, accurate, and up-to-date records of assessments, interventions, and communications.
- Ensure compliance with ethical standards, data protection laws, and legal guidelines in all areas of practice.
Advocacy and School Culture
- Advocate for the mental health, well-being, and inclusion of all students within the school environment.
- Contribute to creating a safe, positive, and supportive school culture that promotes psychological safety and belonging.
