Age Limit: Up to 45 Years
Job Description:
The Physiotherapist plays a critical role in enhancing the physical functioning and mobility of students with developmental, neuromuscular, or orthopedic challenges. Through individualized therapy, adaptive strategies, and collaborative planning, the Physiotherapist supports students’ physical independence, safety, and participation in academic and daily school activities.
Qualification:
- Bachelor’s or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy (DPT or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- Valid license/registration to practice as a Physiotherapist under relevant national or local authority (e.g., Pakistan Physical Therapy Council)
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years experience in pediatric or school-based physiotherapy preferred.
- Experience with developmental disabilities, neuromotor conditions, or orthopedic interventions is an asset.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of motor development, physical rehabilitation, and assistive mobility solutions.
- Ability to develop functional, goal-oriented therapy plans.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
- Capacity to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and with families.
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations related to student mobility and physical support.
Working Conditions:
- School-based environment involving physical interaction with students requiring mobility assistance.
- May require lifting, repositioning, and use of mobility or therapy equipment.
- Occasional extended hours for meetings or training.
Performance Indicators:
- Student progress on physical therapy goals.
- Effective collaboration with staff and families.
- Safety and appropriateness of mobility supports and equipment.
- Compliance with health, safety, and documentation standards.
- Contribution to inclusive and accessible school practices.
Job Responsibilities:
Assessment and Evaluation
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of students’ gross motor skills, mobility, muscle tone, posture, balance, and physical development.
- Identify functional limitations and physical support needs within the school environment.
- Document findings and communicate results to the interdisciplinary team and families.
Collaboration and Inclusion
- Collaborate with occupational therapists, special educators, classroom teachers, and support staff to ensure inclusive physical access to learning and recreational environments.
- Provide input on classroom setup, seating arrangements, and accessibility planning.
Training and Capacity Building
- Train teachers, caregivers, and support staff on proper handling techniques, including safe lifting, transfers, and student positioning.
- Educate staff on recognizing signs of physical distress or fatigue in students with mobility impairments.
Student Empowerment
- Promote students’ physical independence, confidence, and participation in school-based activities, including physical education and extracurricular events.
- Encourage active movement and participation in peer interactions.
IEP and Multidisciplinary Involvement
- Participate in the development and review of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), contributing physiotherapy goals and intervention plans.
- Attend multidisciplinary meetings to ensure coordinated care and progress monitoring.
Documentation and Compliance
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, therapy sessions, progress notes, and communications.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies, medical ethics, and health and safety standards.
